Patrick Odongo was the hero for Kenya Sevens with two tries to help them cruise to the Singapore Sevens Cup Final at the National Stadium Sunday as they beat Spain 12-5 to make it to their first final since 2016.

In a twist of fate, Shujaa will take on Fiji in the final after the South Pacific Island nation battered Argentina 24-33 in the second semifinal.

The final will take place at 2.41 pm local time.

Odongo struck in the first half to hand Kenya a 12-0 half time lead.

Nigel Amaitsa scored a conversion and hit the upright with his second attempt as the Kevin Wambua charges started the first half with a bang.

The Kenyans are yet to concede a point in the first half of their matches in Singapore and it has been down to solid defense and selfless play from the whole team led by the outstanding George Ooro and captain Vincent Onyala.

Spain pulled a try back in the second half through Pol Pla following a loose pass from substitute Brian Tanga.

However, more solid defense by Ooro and Jone Kubu kept the Spanish at bay to book Kenya's spot in the final where they will take on the Fijians.

The upcoming final represents Kenya's return to the high table at Sevens level, the last time being in 2016 when they beat Fiji 30-7 in the final to secure their lone Sevens Series Leg win to date.
