The Kenyans placed second behind hosts Democratic Republic of Congo with a total of 18 medals – six gold, five silver, and seven bronze with only four boxers missing medals out of the 22 who represented Kenya in Kinshasa back in 2022.

Kenya's national boxing team has intensified preparations for the upcoming Africa Zone 3 Boxing Championships, which will take place from October 16–24, 2025, at the Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The team, currently training at the Mathare Police Depot, is focusing on building strength, endurance, and tactical sharpness under head coach Musa Benjamin and his technical bench comprising David Munuhe, John Waweru, John Ochieng, and Julius Theuri.

The team comprises of 23 men and 11 female boxers.

Kenya’s national boxing team was ranked second in the previous Zone 3 Championship tournament in Kinshasa.

Head coach Musa is confident his side is capable of doing wonders on the continental stage.

"We have team that has combined experience and youth and also considers the level of play of the players are currently participating at and I'm confident we will see some very good results, he told Radio Generation Sport.

The squad features 12 new faces, 10 men and two women. They will compete internationally for the first time. They are, Diouf Muimi (Flyweight), Emmanuel Chondo (Bantamweight), Paul Omondi, Mwinyi Kombo (Featherweights), Washington Wandera (Lightweight), Caleb Wandera (Light-welterweight), Wiseman Kavondo (Welterweight), Alvin Oduor (Light-middleweight), John Oyugi (Heavyweight), Jane Wangare (Women’s Minimumweight) and Sheila Auma (Women’s Bantamweight).
