The Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) has announced the final payment for smallholder tea farmers for the 2024/2025 financial year, promising to release the funds by October 15, 2025.
In a statement issued by KTDA Corporate Communications, the agency said the payment follows the conclusion of the 2024/25 accounts.
“The same shall be released to the farmers’ respective banks not later than 15th October 2025, along with the green-leaf deliveries for the month of September 2025,” the statement reads.
The payout marks the close of a financial cycle in which KTDA-managed factories have finalised their performance audits and dividend computations. Each farmer’s earnings will reflect their deliveries for the period under review.
Alongside the green-leaf payment, KTDA confirmed that farmers will also receive funds recovered from Imperial Bank and Chase Bank, both of which are under liquidation.
“In addition, the farmers will be paid the funds recovered from Imperial Bank and Chase Bank, both under liquidation. The funds were received from the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation,” the agency said.
KTDA further commended the Government for facilitating the recovery of these long-awaited funds, noting that the reimbursements represent a significant relief for thousands of smallholder farmers who had deposits in the collapsed banks.
“KTDA has lauded the Government for facilitating the recovery of these funds on behalf of tea farmers,” the statement added.
According to the circular, the authority assured growers that payment details will appear on individual payslips and will also be accessible via the KTDA mobile application, which serves as the digital platform for factory-to-farmer communication.
“Details of the payments will be reflected in the payslips for the individual farmer and on their accounts on the KTDA App,” the agency confirmed.
The announcement ends months of anticipation among tea growers awaiting the final proceeds of the 2024/2025 financial year.
