There will be a number of positions on offer during the elections that will be hotly contested at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Long serving Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier will be going for yet another term extension at the helm of the record Kenyan Premier League champions when the club's elections take place Sunday.

There will be a number of positions on offer during the elections that will be hotly contested at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

The positions of club Chairperson, Vice Chairman, Club Secretary and Honorary Treasurer will be filled during the elections that take place Sunday morning.

Rachier will take on current Treasurer Dolphina Odhiambo for the position of Gor Mahia chair and will be looking to extend his stay at God's helm until 2029 which would have made his stay a two decade long one by the time he retires.

Rachier first became Gor chair in 2008 and has overseen nine league titles during his tenure.

"I have satisfied all requirements to participate in this election and will go for my final term tomorrow," Rachier told Radio Generation Sport earlier.

Prior to the elections, there was controversy over Rachier's extended stay at the helm, but according to the club's new constitution, that was enacted in 2019, he is guaranteed two terms if elected.

In what is also expected to be a heated race, Victor Omondi will take on Sally Bolo for the position of Vice Chairperson. Current Secretary General Sam Ocholla will defend his seat against Nicanor Arum.

Broadcaster Gidi Ogidi, who had shown interest in the position, pulled out at the last minute, citing personal reasons.

"I will not vie. I wish others the best. Gor Mahia is my club, and I will support it in different ways," he said.

Georphas Ogolla and Philip Nyakwana will take each other on for the position of Honorary Treasurer.

Ogolla is currently a member of the club's National Executive Committee.
