Tusker FC eye top spot after Police, Gor fumble

Tusker FC will go outright top of the Kenya Premier League if they can grab three points against City Stars this afternoon at Kenyatta Stadium Machakos town.

The Brewers, who have 48 points from 26 matches, are a point behind Police FC, who have played a game more, and a point ahead of Gor Mahia, who have also played 26 matches.

Police lost 1-0 to Ulinzi Stars on Friday, with Gor only being able to draw with Sofapaka 1-1 at the Dandora Stadium on Saturday.

With Seven rounds of matches left to play after today's round of fixtures, Tusker know a win over bottom place City Stars will count double in the context of the title race.

City Stars on the other hand, have 24 points, similar to Bidco United who host Mathare United in the early kick off and will know that a shock win over the title-chasing Tusker can deliver them out of the bottom spot if other results go their way.

Murang'a Seal, who have 25 points, will host Kariobangi Sharks (31) at the San Sebastian Stadium in Murang'a.

With games running out fast, a home win will be a massive statement for Seal, who have endured a tough season.

FC Talanta, who are on 26 points, will host high-flying Shabana (41) at Dandora Stadium.

Talanta are also hoping to avoid the drop and will be expected to go hard against their unpredictable visitors.

Shabana still harbour distant title hopes, making it an interesting clash to look forward to.
