Marathon great Eliud Kipchoge says he is excited and looking forward to taking part in this year's Sydney Marathon.

The two-time Olympic Champion confirmed Thursday that he will be taking part in the Marathon down under.

This coming hot on the heels of earlier communication from officials of the 2025 London Marathon, who had said Kipchoge will also be gracing their event.

Officially referred to as the TCS Sydney Marathon, this year's race will be held Sunday 31 August 2025.

"I'm so excited," Kipchoge said in a statement. "This is not only my first time running the TCS Sydney Marathon, but also my first time running in Oceania," says Eliud in a Supersport interview.

He added that running in Australia is a great opportunity for him.

He has an impressive appearance record of 16 wins in 21 officially acclaimed marathons, posting 10 straight wins from 2014-19.

Kipchoge, who has on record, the second fastest official marathon in history with a time of 2:01:09, will compete in next month's London Marathon before heading down to Sydney.

He will be looking to put behind a disastrous 2024 Paris Olympics display, where he failed to finish a race for the first time in his career.
