Samidoh estimated Mwathi’s time of death to be between 5 and 6 am, with police officers arriving about an hour later.

Musician and police officer Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, has dismissed claims that interior designer Jeff Mwathi died by suicide.

Testifying in court during the ongoing inquest into Mwathi’s death, Samidoh told the court he had known Mwathi from a young age and was determined to find out what truly happened to him.

Samidoh said Mwathi was a clothes designer who also sold garments. He told the court that both he and DJ Fatxo came from Nyandarua County and that Fatxo was his musical mentee.
“DJ Fatxo was my mentee. I supported him musically and had no mission to destroy him,” he said, adding, “I only want to know how my nephew died.”

Recalling the day of the incident, Samidoh said he was at home and went to report the matter to the police at 8 am the following morning. He noted that DJ Fatxo arrived at Kasarani Police Station at 11 am on February 23, 2023.

He told the court the crime scene had not been secured, as other people were present when he arrived. He estimated Mwathi’s time of death to be between 5 and 6 am, with police officers arriving about an hour later. At the scene, he found three women and two men.

Referring to recorded statements, Samidoh testified that DJ Fatxo was seen leaving with the three women without Mwathi. He also clarified that none of the women was Mwathi’s girlfriend.

Samidoh said he had viewed CCTV footage showing Mwathi’s body falling from a height. He first saw the body during the second postmortem, already dressed, and expressed dissatisfaction with the first postmortem results.
"I was not satisfied with the first postmortem results, so I sought a second opinion at the DCI headquarters,” he told the court, adding that other artists supported his move.

He gave a detailed description of the body, saying, “The body had no shoes, the trousers were half worn, and the underwear was around the ankles.”

Challenging the suicide theory, Samidoh said the bed near the window was still neat and clean, with no footmarks on the window, which he argued made it unlikely that Mwathi had climbed through it. “If he had jumped, the bed near the window would have been displaced,” he said.
