Google is intensifying efforts to protect users from harmful ads and scams using advanced Artificial Intelligence.

According to the 2024 Ads Safety Report, Google took decisive action last year, blocking or removing a staggering 5.1 billion ads and restricting an additional 9.1 billion.

The tech giant also suspended over 39 million advertiser accounts preemptively.

This proactive approach comes amid a surge in cyber threats across Africa, with Kenya's National KE-CIRT detecting 3.5 billion threats in the past financial year alone.

Google's General Manager for Ads Safety, Alex Rodriguez, highlighted the role of AI in combating increasingly sophisticated scams, including those impersonating public figures and using AI-generated content.

The report underscores Google's commitment to internet safety, emphasizing a 90% reduction in reported impersonation scams thanks to updated policies and a dedicated global team.

With numerous elections looming globally, Google has expanded transparency requirements for political ads, removing over 10 million ads globally for non-compliance.

These measures aim to enhance trust and safety in digital spaces, reflecting Google's proactive stance against evolving threats.
