Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has urged young people across Africa to support Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in his efforts to resist imperialism and external meddling.

Through a statement posted on his official X account on Sunday, May 11, 2025, Amisi commended Traoré for his courageous leadership and firm commitment to defending Africa’s sovereignty.

Amisi described President Traoré as a beacon of hope for Africa, particularly its youth.

He noted that the Burkinabè leader stands out as the only African figure who meets global leaders while openly bearing a pistol—an image that, to many, symbolizes defiance and fearlessness.

Calling him an enigma and a powerful presence, the Saboti MP urged African youth to unite in support of Traoré’s stand against imperialism.

"Captain Ibrahim Traoré is the only African who meets top world leaders while armed—a symbol of his bold spirit. He is an enigma. Africa and its youth must rise to defend him from the grip of imperialism," Amisi stated.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré rose to power in Burkina Faso following a military coup in 2022.

Since assuming office, he has become a figure of inspiration for many across the continent, particularly among the youth, due to his bold opposition to Western influence and global financial institutions like the IMF and World Bank.

What distinguishes Traoré from other African leaders is his youth, assertiveness, and willingness to confront entrenched systems.

His unfiltered, unapologetic style has struck a chord with a generation eager to break free from foreign control and economic dependency.

For many, he represents a new chapter in African leadership.

Under Traoré’s administration, Burkina Faso has pursued policies centered on self-sufficiency. Salaries for public servants have been raised.

Agricultural output has improved, and the country is now prioritizing local processing of natural resources over raw exports. All these efforts aim to strengthen the economy from within.

On the international front, Traoré has aligned more closely with Russia, securing military and energy partnerships.

Russian forces are now collaborating with Burkinabè troops to boost national security and train local units.

He has also voiced support for Russia in global conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, marking a significant realignment in Burkina Faso’s foreign policy stance.

By attending the grand parade and wreath-laying ceremony on May 9, 2025, to mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazism, Burkina Faso’s transitional leader, Ibrahim Traoré, said he was paying tribute to both the Soviet Army and the Allied forces.
