Charles Were Murder: Court orders 7-day detention for Aroko

The court granted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) permission to detain him for a week.
The High Court has upheld an earlier directive by a lower court, requiring that Phillip Aroko—who is suspected of murdering Kasipul MP Charles Were, remain in police custody for the full duration of seven days.
Aroko was presented before the JKIA law courts through a miscellaneous application linked to the MP’s killing.
The court granted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) permission to detain him for a week to allow for the completion of investigations into the case.
On Monday, before High Court judge Alexander Muteti, the court agreed to withdraw the matter following Aroko’s request to withdraw an application before the High Court, arguing that the orders sought had already been fulfilled when he was presented before the JKIA court on Friday.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) notified the court that it had fulfilled the orders given on Friday.
