Express lanes set to ease congestion at Nairobi National Park

To ensure an easier access to the park, Miano also advised visitors to purchase their tickets in advance via the eCitizen platform.
Following complaints over long queues and delays at the Nairobi National Park over the weekend, the Tourism Ministry is now introducing express lanes for prepaid ticket holders entering the iconic park.
In a statement signed by Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano on Monday, the Ministry said that additional gates will be introduced to ease congestion and save time.
The additional entrances are the East Gate, off Mombasa Road and the Mbagathi Gate on Magadi Road, opposite Multimedia University.
The Ministry explained it's also exploring a new Southern Bypass entry for visitors
"We deeply value every visitor who chooses to explore the beauty and wonder of Nairobi National Park. We understand that extended waiting times at entry gates over the weekend may have impacted your experience," said the CS.
"The surge in visitor numbers is a testament to Kenya’s growing appeal as a premier tourism and conference destination, driven by the ongoing international meetings in Nairobi and the successful marketing efforts. We are committed to making your future visits seamless, enjoyable, and memorable."
CS Miano called on visitors entering the park to embrace the prepaid ticketing system, saying over 60% of visitors on Sunday May, 18, 2025 used the option.
To ensure an easier access to the park, Miano also advised visitors to purchase their tickets in advance via the eCitizen platform at kws.ecitizen.go.ke.
"This is a step forward in our shared journey toward smarter, faster, and more enjoyable park access," concluded the statement.
