Elon Musk says Trump would have lost 2024 election without his help

Musk donated around $290 million (Sh37.6 billion) to Trump’s campaign and other Republican candidates, helping secure victories in the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate.
Elon Musk has said that without his financial backing, Donald Trump would not have won the 2024 US election.
Musk donated around $290 million (Sh37.6 billion) to Trump’s campaign and other Republican candidates, helping secure victories in the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate.
Musk highlighted that his support was crucial in key swing states, including Pennsylvania, where he held a lottery giving away $1 million daily to those who supported Republican causes.
Trump responded to Musk’s claims by saying, "I think I would have won, Susie [Wiles] would say I would have won Pennsylvania easily anyway," referring to his campaign manager.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump also expressed surprise and disappointment over Musk’s recent criticism of his budget bill, stating, "Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore."
Musk, who recently left his government post after 129 days, doubled down on his comments on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Trump of "Such ingratitude" and reiterating, "Without me, Trump would have lost the election, [Democrats] would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate."
Musk has openly criticized the current budget bill, calling it a "disgusting abomination" and condemning those who voted for it.
Despite the tension, Musk had appeared alongside Trump at rallies during the campaign and was honored by Trump with a golden key at a news conference in May.
