The Central Bank of Kenya Governor Dr. Kamau Thugge was dismissed from a National Assembly Committee session after failing to present the required documents to back his claims on ethnic diversity and equal opportunity within the bank.

The Committee on Cohesion and Equal Opportunities, led by Adan Yussuf Haji, stopped the session when they found that Dr. Thugge’s report lacked crucial supporting evidence, which is a mandatory requirement.

The Committee pointed out that the Governor’s responses did not meet the expected standards because the documents needed to verify his statements were missing.

“After carefully reviewing your presentation, the Committee has established that your report lacks the required supporting documents,” Haji said.

He emphasized that the invitation letter clearly asked for all submissions to be accompanied by proper documentary proof, a requirement that was not fulfilled.

Besides the missing annexes, the Committee also noted that Dr. Thugge’s report was unsigned, which is a serious procedural error leading to the rejection of the entire submission.

The Committee ruled that the report could not be accepted in its current form and instructed the Governor to revise and submit the documents according to parliamentary rules.

Dr. Thugge admitted the report was not adequately prepared and promised to meet all procedural demands before his next appearance.

The Committee also turned away the CEO of the Geothermal Development Company, Paul Ngugi, who faced similar rejection due to lack of proper documentation and preparation.
