Musk says he went too far in attacks against Trump

"I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far," Musk wrote Wednesday on his social media platform X.
Elon Musk has admitted that some of his recent remarks about former US President Donald Trump went too far, signalling a shift in tone just days after a heated public fallout between the two.
"I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far," Musk wrote Wednesday on his social media platform X.
The world’s richest man and former Trump advisor made the statement less than a week after Trump warned him of “serious consequences” if he tried to punish Republican lawmakers who support a controversial spending bill currently before Congress.
The feud between the two influential figures began last week after Musk criticised what Trump had described as his “big, beautiful” spending bill.
The criticism came as some Republicans opposed to the legislation urged Musk to help fund primary election challenges against party members who voted for it.
"He’ll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that," Trump told NBC News on Saturday.
The former president also labelled Musk as “disrespectful” in the same interview, but did not explain what actions he intended to take.
The clash played out mostly on social media, where both men command massive followings.
Musk's financial support has been key to several Republican campaigns, especially during last year’s presidential race.
