A shocking incident unfolded today in Nairobi's CBD as a police officer was caught on camera shooting an unarmed vendor near Imenti House.

The video, seen by Radio Generation Kenya, shows a police contingent on Moi Avenue responding to protesters along Mondlane Street.

In a sudden turn of events, one officer charged towards the crowd, firing his gun but fortunately causing no injuries.

Moments later, he and a colleague confronted a man reportedly selling masks.

Instead of passing by, the officers halted.

One officer slapped the victim, while the other struck him with his gun's butt.

Shortly after, the first officer fired at close range, injuring the man who was seen bleeding from his upper body in images circulating on social media.

Witnesses report that nearby protesters rushed the victim to Bliss Medical Centre for urgent treatment.
