After a three-day pause in operations over compliance issues, public service operator Super Metro has announced resumption of services.

In a statement on Thursday, April, 2025, Super Metro said they have successfully met and surpassed all compliance requirements set by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB).

"Our team has worked tirelessly over the past three days to address all directives, ensuring that our services meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory adherence," said Super Metro.

"We are excited to once again serve the people of Kenya, providing safe and efficient transport solutions to communities across the region."

Super Metro said they have been officially cleared to resume operations, effective today (April 17, 2025).

"Our team has worked tirelessly over the past three days to address all directives, ensuring that our services meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory adherence. We are excited to once again serve the people of Kenya, providing safe and efficient transport solutions to communities across the region," it said.

The move comes days after the Transport Licensing Appeals Board had directed public service vehicle operator to suspend operations for three days to finalize on compliance measures.

In March, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) suspended Super Metro Limited’s operator licence until the company fully complies with the Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 2014, and other set conditions.

According to NTSA, it conducted a comprehensive analysis of Super Metro and found that out of its 523 vehicles, 15 had expired inspection certificates, and eight had expired Road Service Licences (RSL).

NTSA also found that several drivers from the sacco do not meet the required qualifications, which presents a major safety risk.

The suspension was later lifted, and Super Metro vehicles were allowed to resume operations after the Transport Licensing Appeal Board temporarily lifted the suspension imposed by the National Transport and Safety Authority.

The Board, in an order issued on Monday,  March 24, 2025, gave the transport company the green light to resume operations immediately.

"An interim order is hereby issued staying the execution, enforcement, or operation of the decision of the respondents dated March 18, 2025, suspending the operation of the appellant herein Super Metro Sacco Limited as a PSV operator," the order by board chairman Adrian Kamotho read in part.
