UDA National Chairperson Cecily Mbarire, in a statement issued after a meeting of the National Steering Committee and the National Elections Board on Monday, said the devices would ensure a smooth and fair election process.
“We have procured over 10,000 gadgets to ensure that the elections are conducted seamlessly through a digital electronic framework that will ensure the election is open, free, fair, and with instantaneous results at the close of polls,” she said.
Mbarire emphasized that the elections would be fully digital to enhance democracy and transparency.
The UDA chairperson further noted that thousands of candidates had already registered for the elections and urged more aspirants to apply before the registration deadline on March 21, 2025.
“In these counties, 113,800 candidates have so far registered to contest. The registration for candidates is now open and will remain available until Friday, March 21, 2025, at midnight. Interested members can register through our online portal UDA.ke,” Mbarire said.
Mbarire encouraged party members to take part in the grassroots elections, saying the process was crucial in ensuring that community voices were heard and that leadership remained accountable to the people.
“These elections represent a pivotal moment in our journey towards strengthening democracy in our nation,” she added.
The first phase of the grassroots elections has already been completed in five counties.
The upcoming elections will take place in Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado, Turkana, Kisii, Nyamira, Bungoma, Migori, Siaya, and Kisumu on April 11, 2025.
The following day, voting will be held in Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River.
