Italy midfielder Jorginho was also forced off the match with an apparent rib injury with seven minutes to go.

Arsenal are sweating over the fitness of midfielder Thomas Partey following their 1-1 home draw with Brentford on Saturday.

Partey was on the score sheet for the Gunners in the draw at the Emirates Stadium, finishing off a counterattack initiated by goalkeeper David Raya and assisted by Declan Rice.

However, a few minutes after his 61st minute goal, he was forced off the pitch holding his hamstring area and Arteta admitted after the match that they were not sure about the status of the Ghana midfielder.

“Thomas Partey felt something, so we didn’t want to take any risks. We don’t know; I haven’t spoken to the doctors yet," Arteta told his post-match press conference.

“Ben White, we don’t know. He wasn’t in condition to make the squad today to be selected. We have a few days, so let’s wait and see."

Italy midfielder Jorginho was also forced off the match with an apparent rib injury with seven minutes to go.

Arteta says that he is also seeking advice on the injury.

"I don't know. He said he could not breathe properly, so it might be to do with one of the ribs," Arteta said.

"It is strange because Jorgi normally carries on, so that means it is something significant, I think," he added.

Arsenal carry a 3-0 lead to Madrid for the return leg of their Champions League quarterfinal encounter and Arteta says his side will be ready for that encounter.

"Now it is time to recover well, and tomorrow we have to start to prepare for the most beautiful game of the season (against Madrid)."

Arsenal take on Madrid Wednesday in Spain, looking to make the Semifinals of the Champions League for the first time since the 2008/9 season.
