A year after being received with fanfare by President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto in Nairobi, renowned televangelist Benny Hinn has now made his way to Uganda for a three-day religious crusade.

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni confirmed Hinn’s arrival in a statement released on Saturday, June 28, noting that the American preacher had been hosted alongside First Lady Janet Museveni at the Nakasero State Lodge.

Museveni said their meeting focused on issues of faith and spirituality and culminated in a prayer session for the country.

“Pastor Benny Hinn, the American evangelist currently in Uganda for a three-day crusade, visited me and Maama Janet at the Nakasero State Lodge this evening,” read part of Museveni’s statement. “We engaged in meaningful discussions on faith and religion, followed by a heartfelt prayer for our nation.”

The Ugandan leader extended a warm welcome to Hinn, citing the country’s deeply Christian demographic. “As a country where 85 per cent of the population identifies as Christian, we welcome him. I therefore wish him a blessed and pleasant stay,” he added.

Hinn’s arrival in Uganda comes just over a year since his widely publicized “Healing the Nation” crusade at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium on February 24, 2024, which drew thousands of worshippers, including Kenya’s First Lady.

President Ruto joined the crusade the following day and used the platform to share a personal testimony.

He revealed that he first received a divine confirmation of his presidential destiny in 2006 during a revival event in the United States.
