Liverpool's Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson has left the Brazil camp due to injury and will miss their clash against rivals Argentina.

Alisson was forced off the pitch after a clash of heads during Thursday's 2-1 win over Colombia in a 2026 World Cup qualifier after colliding with Colombia defender Davidson Sanchez.

Both players were substituted following the incident. Initial reports did not indicate a serious injury but that has now been queued with his withdrawal.

"Alisson is travelling back to Merseyside and will undergo assessment from the Reds' medical staff," Liverpool said in a statement.

Alisson later slowed down fears of a serious injury on his Instagram account, saying that he is in good spirits.

"Hey guys, just to let you know I'm fine! Just have to follow the protocols! Thanks for the messages," he posted.

Alisson is Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper and will be important for the club as they chase a Premier League title.

They have a 12-point lead over Arsenal with nine games left to play.

Brazil travel to Buenos Aires to face Argentina in their next match on Tuesday evening, where the home side can secure their place at the 2026 World Cup with a win.
