Two Ramba High School students killed in septic tank accident

Two students of the Ramba Boys High School in Asembo, Siaya County died after falling into a septic tank on the evening of Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Parents, students, and teachers at the school were left in shock following the 6 pm incident.

Authorities are yet to release their identities as investigations into the heartbreaking incident continue.

Reports indicate that the students were having supper when the structure collapsed, trapping four of them inside.

However, two others were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo confirmed the incident on his social media accounts.

In a statement on X, Amollo expressed sorrow over the deaths of two students, stating that he had been informed of the tragedy.

“Another tragedy! Saddened to learn two young boys at Ramba Boys High School have lost their lives after a septic tank collapsed! May their young souls know peace, even as we continue investigating the circumstances,” Amollo said.

Following the incident, students staged a protest within the school as parents criticized the school administration for failing to communicate after the accident.
