Constable Gilbert Kibet, who was attached to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) station in Muhuru Bay, was found dead early Friday morning outside a bar.
Detectives are investigating the brutal killing of a police officer in Muhuru Bay, Nyatike sub-county, Migori County.
Constable Gilbert Kibet, who was attached to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) station in Muhuru Bay, was found dead early Friday morning outside a bar. Authorities say the officer was attacked at around 4 a.m. and stabbed on the left side of his neck, with blood still oozing from the wound when his body was discovered.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body has since been moved to the Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem is expected to be conducted.
Police have identified the main suspect as a man known only by the alias ‘Boy’, who is believed to have fled the scene following the fatal stabbing. Officers recovered a broken bottle at the site of the attack, believed to be the murder weapon. A manhunt is currently underway, with police urging the suspect to surrender for questioning.
In a separate incident in Maseno, Kisumu County, a 35-year-old man was found dead in his home after a suspected domestic dispute turned fatal.
The deceased, identified as Joash Tindi, was discovered with a stab wound to the left side of his chest on Thursday. Police say a blood-stained knife, along with women’s clothing and shoes, was found beside his body, pointing to his girlfriend as the primary suspect. The woman remains at large.
Neighbours told police the couple had a troubled relationship marked by frequent violence. The body was moved to the morgue pending a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in Matanya, Laikipia County, an 86-year-old woman was found murdered in her home under disturbing circumstances.
Elizabeth Wairimu Wainana was discovered dead on Thursday night, with preliminary findings indicating she may have been sexually assaulted before her death. A sniffer dog traced a suspect to a nearby bar, but the man managed to escape just before officers arrived.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but police have launched a manhunt for the suspect. The body was taken to the mortuary for a postmortem.
Police in all three regions have vowed to pursue the perpetrators and bring them to justice, as investigations into the spate of killings intensify.
