Police in Kiambu have apprehended four suspects and recovered a firearm along with a motorcycle believed to have been used in a recent violent robbery.
The arrests were made on July 14, 2025, during a targeted operation led by officers from Gatuanyaga Police Post, acting on a tip-off from alert members of the public.
According to a statement shared by the National Police Service (NPS) on Tuesday, July 15, the operation was conducted at Nexus Club in Gatuanyaga, and the suspects are believed to be connected to a robbery that occurred on July 11.
“Acting on public intelligence, officers from Gatuanyaga Police Post mounted a successful raid at Nexus Club,” the NPS confirmed.
During the swoop, officers recovered a Browning pistol and a blue Ranger motorcycle, both suspected to have been used in the robbery. The recovered items have been secured as key exhibits in the ongoing probe.
The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing formal police procedures. Authorities say they will be arraigned once investigations are complete.
The NPS hailed the role of residents in the successful operation, acknowledging the importance of timely information-sharing between the public and law enforcement.
“The National Police Service appreciates the vigilance of the public, whose cooperation was crucial in this operation,” the statement read.
This incident mirrors a broader trend of enhanced collaboration between citizens and police, which has led to notable arrests and recoveries in recent weeks across counties including Nairobi, Kisumu, and Embu.
Police continue to call on Kenyans to remain alert and report any suspicious behavior as part of the community policing framework aimed at improving national security.
“As we thank the public for their support, we urge continued partnership to deter crime and ensure safety for all,” NPS added.
The Gatuanyaga arrests underscore the impact of intelligence-driven policing, especially when reinforced by an engaged and proactive public.
