At least thirty-eight (38) suspects have been arrested over several incidents that occurred last week where gangs attacked and mugged civilians during President William Ruto's tour of Nairobi.

This comes as police intensified search operations around the city while vowing to bring the culprits to book.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday, the attacks targeted unsuspecting public members along major roads, including Thika Highway, Waiyaki Way, and Jogoo Road.

Some pedestrians and motorists were reportedly ambushed and robbed by criminals who took advantage of the situation. Videos on social media also showed gangs swarming streets and boarding PSVs to attack their victims.

During the crackdown, law enforcement officers recovered seven motorcycles allegedly used in the attacks, along with several mobile phones.

The arrested suspects are currently in custody at various police stations, awaiting their court appearance on Monday where they face several charges including robbery with violence and preparation to commit a felony.
