The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced that fuel prices will remain unchanged in its latest monthly review.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced that fuel prices will remain unchanged in its latest monthly review.

According to the update released on Thursday, Super Petrol will continue selling at Ksh176.58 per litre, Diesel at Ksh167.06, and Kerosene at Ksh151.39.

The regulator also reported an increase in the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol, which rose by 1.34% from Ksh81,398.16 per cubic metre in January 2025 to Ksh82,488.13 per cubic metre in February 2025.

The cost of diesel saw a 1.41% rise, moving from Ksh86,879.07 per cubic metre to Ksh88,107.55 per cubic metre.

Meanwhile, kerosene prices dropped by 1.36%, decreasing from Ksh88,212.41 per cubic metre to Ksh87,008.52 per cubic metre within the same period.

EPRA says the prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation.

EPRA highlighted that Kenya relies entirely on imported refined petroleum products, which are traded internationally based on a set pricing benchmark.

"Further, the trade of petroleum products in the international markets is denominated in US Dollars, and an exchange rate is applied to convert the dollars to shillings during the computation of local pump prices," the regulator added.

The announcement could spell relief to motorists and consumers who had braced for a potential price increase following speculation about additional charges.
