Barasa has openly criticized both politicians and confidently predicts that they will be decisively beaten by Ruto and Raila Odinga before 8:00 am on election day in 2027.

Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has voiced doubts about the political prospects of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as Kenya gears up for the 2027 general elections.

A staunch supporter of President William Ruto, Barasa has openly criticized both politicians and confidently predicts that they will be decisively beaten by Ruto and Raila Odinga before 8:00 am on election day in 2027.

In a statement posted on his official X account on Sunday, June 1, 2025, the outspoken MP echoed President Ruto’s call for a decisive landslide victory over the opposition in the forthcoming general elections.

"Are these the people you refer to as Notam and Wantam? I want to make it clear that Wamunyoro and Watermelon will be crushed by Ruto and Raila before 8:00 am on election day in 2027,” Barasa said.

Barasa’s comments come as reports circulate about opposition leaders negotiating a coalition to contest the 2027 elections and challenge President Ruto’s government.

Despite this, Barasa remains convinced that their plans will fail, insisting that their political ambitions will be crushed early on election day.

Barasa’s remarks mirror President Ruto’s recent sentiments, in which he dismissed the opposition as lacking a clear vision or strategy for the country.

While addressing residents in Kisumu Town on Thursday, May 29, 2025, Ruto asserted that the opposition had nothing tangible to offer Kenyans and confidently predicted a landslide victory in the 2027 elections.

“These are leaders without vision, without a plan, without an agenda. We will humble them—they won’t see it coming,” he declared.

He also took a swipe at the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), led by Rigathi Gachagua, criticizing its slogans and branding it as a party without direction.

“They thrive on slogans ‘Ruto must go,’ ‘Kasongo,’ ‘Wantam’ but we are focused on moving this country forward,” President Ruto remarked.

Meanwhile, Democracy for Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua expressed optimism that the opposition alliance will take overpower after the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during Kalonzo Musyoka’s homecoming ceremony at his Tseikuru residence on Thursday, May 29, 2025, Gachagua said his political groundwork pointed to a sure win in the upcoming polls.

“I want to assure you that this opposition coalition will form the next government, and Kalonzo Musyoka will have a place in that administration,” he declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

“There’s no need to worry—there’s enough room for all of us in the next government,” he added confidently.
