Bhang valued at Sh10.5 million seized near Kenya-Ethiopia border

According to Sololo OCPD Joseph Nthiga, the narcotics, estimated to weigh 350 kilograms and packed in 12 sacks, were discovered around 9 am as they were being transported in a Toyota Land Cruiser.
Marijuana valued at Sh10.5 million was intercepted in the Elle Bor area along the Kenya-Ethiopia border on Monday morning.
According to Sololo OCPD Joseph Nthiga, the narcotics, estimated to weigh 350 kilograms and packed in 12 sacks, were discovered around 9 am as they were being transported in a Toyota Land Cruiser.
"We have taken the vehicle into custody along with the illegal cargo, which will serve as evidence in the case. The driver, a 27-year-old man, has also been arrested," Nthiga confirmed.
Sololo Deputy County Commissioner Edward Goko lauded the police for arresting the suspected smuggler and urged the government to deploy more National Police Reservists along the Kenya-Ethiopia border to enhance security in the region.
The suspect, who sustained a leg injury during the incident, was admitted to hospital and will be placed in custody upon his discharge.
