Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have established a formal household structure as they permanently separate their professional paths, four years after stepping down as senior royals.

The couple has adopted a hierarchical staffing system, similar to that used by the royal family, marking a clear shift from their earlier reliance on informal advisers.

As part of the new arrangement, both Harry and Meghan will have their own chief of staff.

The operation will be led by Meredith Kendall Maines, a communications strategist who will oversee a team of 11 staff members split between Montecito, California, and the UK.

The revamped setup reflects the couple’s growing focus on individual projects and a desire for a more structured way to manage their expanding business and philanthropic ventures. Each senior staff member is reported to earn a six-figure salary.

Miranda Barbot, a political and media adviser who worked on Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, will serve exclusively under Harry.

She recently helped coordinate the couple’s visit to Nigeria. Meghan will be supported by Sarah Fosmo, a former aide to Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

The household will also help guide the growth of Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, which is preparing to release more products after its limited launch sold out.

Meghan is also rolling out season two of her Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, expected later this year.

“In reality, he has been giving her the space to flourish. Now it is his time to throw himself into exciting new work. Invictus will always come first, but he has also been working on commercial ideas of his own," a source told the Daily Mail:

A spokesperson for the couple said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have retained the support of Method Communications to support their growing business portfolio and philanthropic interests. Serving as an extension of the Sussex communications team, led by chief communications officer Meredith Maines.”

The new structure, separate from their Archewell foundation, is seen as an effort to bring stability and protect their image. By adopting a system similar to the royal household they left behind, the Sussexes aim to build credible, independent brands while maintaining public trust.
