Netherlands royals arrive in the country for state visit

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands arrived in Kenya on  Monday, March 17, 2025, for a State Visit.

Upon their arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, they were received by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, alongside other government officials.

In a statement shared on his X account after receiving the Dutch royals, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki expressed his honor in welcoming the esteemed guests.

He highlighted the strong ties between Kenya and the Netherlands, noting that the European nation is the largest importer of Kenyan flowers.

Kindiki also emphasized the mutual benefits of the partnership, particularly in investments related to water, infrastructure, and the development of arid and semi-arid regions.

Scheduled to take place from Tuesday, March 18, to Thursday, March 20, 2025, the visit represents an important step in the diplomatic relations between Kenya and the Netherlands.

It seeks to enhance collaboration in key areas such as sustainable agriculture, water management, and economic growth.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máximawill hold high-level talks with President William Ruto, focusing on trade, investment, and international cooperation.

The royal couple is also scheduled to tour key initiatives focused on agriculture, water conservation, and climate resilience.

Kenya remains a vital economic partner for the Netherlands, with strong trade ties in floriculture, agriculture, and infrastructure development.

A press release from the Dutch government dated January 7, 2025, stated that the royal visit underscores the enduring partnership between Kenya and the Netherlands.
