City Hall Way will be closed for several days to facilitate preparations for the World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Opening Ceremony, organizers have said.

According to WRC, the closure will begin on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 8:00 PM, and will remain in effect until Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 3 pm.

The closure will affect a section of stretches from City Hall Way Roundabout to Parliament Roundabout, say organizers.

Nairobi County Government is now advising motorists to use alternative routes and work with traffic officers and marshals on-site to ensure smooth flow during this period.

“We advise drivers to make prior arrangements to avoid inconveniences. Our team will be on the ground to manage traffic,” read a notice from the county.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Power Lighting Company announced that the utility firm is this year’s official Safari Rally ‘Lighting Partner’.

The partnership will see the company power the Service Centre at the Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI) to ensure continuous operations, making it more comfortable for rally drivers to service their race cars.

The 2025 WRC will rev-off on Thursday March, 20 with the ceremonial start along City Hall with the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) serving as the holding area for the cars.
