Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will be out of action for a few weeks, the club announced Monday night, even though he is not expected to miss all of the remaining part of the season.

Haaland has had an on and off season in 2024/25, missing two games in the earlier part of the season due to a knee injury.

Following the FA CUP quarter-final win over Bournemouth, Haaland left the South Coast on crutches and in a protective boot.

He will now likely miss City's chase to make the top four and as well their Cup semi versus Nottingham Forest.

"Manchester City FC can confirm that Erling Haaland has suffered an injury to his left ankle. The Norwegian striker sustained the injury during Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final victory away at AFC Bournemouth," a statement from City read.

"Erling underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury."

"Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain a full prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup," the statement added.

Haaland has had a disappointing season by his high standards but has still notched up 21 league goals and eight in the UEFA Champions League. He also netted in the win over Bournemouth.

City have had an injury-hit season and it is expected that up to six players will be unavailable to take on Leicester City at home in their next league match.
