DP Kindiki roots for peace as foundation for development in marginalized areas

KIndiki stressed that peace and unity are critical for development, urging residents to back ongoing efforts to secure lasting stability in the region.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has pledged that the government will ensure equal distribution of national resources, saying development projects will reach all corners of the country, including areas that have long been marginalized.
Speaking on Friday during the Tiaty Economic Empowerment engagement at Chemolingot town, Kindiki said the administration is committed to implementing projects aimed at improving livelihoods.
“The President has promised to ensure equal development in every part of the country and especially in areas that have been marginalized for a long time. This country is one and we must unite and ensure every part gets its right of development. Every part must get its fair share of roads, electricity connection, water, markets among others,” he said.
The DP stressed that peace and unity are critical for development, urging residents to back ongoing efforts to secure lasting stability in the region.
“I have been here several times on security matters. I thank the people of Tiaty for agreeing to work with us in pursuit of peace and unity of the nation,” he added.
He noted that the government will continue strengthening security in the North Rift to promote coexistence among communities. Under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, Kindiki said numerous projects are being rolled out in Tiaty and across Baringo County.
Twelve modern markets are under construction, including one in Chemolingot at a cost of Sh73 million and another in Barpelo.
The constituency has also been allocated Sh170 million for last-mile electricity connections, with the DP promising to push for the figure to be increased to Sh300 million to benefit more households.
Road works have been revived on the Barwesa–Kinyach–Kolowa, Chemolingot–Kapedo–Lokori, and Barpelo–Tot–Sigot–Marich Pass routes to open up the region for economic growth. Affordable houses will be built in Chemolingot town, alongside hostels for Chemolingot KMTC and the North Rift Technical Vocational College.
“Every part of the country will benefit from the national resources as it should be,” Kindiki reiterated.
He also defended the empowerment programme, saying it seeks to support women and youth groups to expand their businesses. “This is the time to stand with the citizens of Kenya not to wait for campaigns to support them,” he said.
