Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged residents of the Mt. Kenya region to stand together with fellow Kenyans in promoting national unity.

Mudavadi emphasized that Kenya’s progress relies heavily on a shared vision and collective effort that can drive development across all regions.

He also encouraged the Mt. Kenya community to rally behind President William Ruto, saying the Head of State has the region’s best interests at heart.

Mudavadi made these remarks during a church service at the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa in Othaya, Nyeri County.

"Back during the era of Kenya’s third President, Mwai Kibaki, there were constant complaints about how frequently newspaper headlines changed. In response, Kibaki asked for all the newspapers published that week to be brought to him. After each headline was read aloud, he remarked, 'You see, the headlines change daily, so don’t let them distract you from your responsibilities. What truly matters is focus — because the one headline that remains unchanged is the call for unity and national development.'"

The Prime Cabinet Secretary called on residents in the region to focus on the strategic role that they hold in the country.

"And to those from the Mt. Kenya region — if you fumble, just know there are others ready to step in. Honestly speaking, it’s wiser to hold on to the one bird in hand than chase after ten in the bush," he said.

"Many other regions look at Mt. Kenya and wish they had even a small share of what you enjoy. That’s why you must work hand in hand with the President, who has placed great trust in this region."

"Take Western Kenya, for example. Though the region has never produced a president, it continues to support the government. This shows that the idea of only backing the government when someone from your community is in power goes against the spirit of national unity," he added.
