CS Mbadi revokes Wangamati’s appointment as PSSF chair

No reason was provided for the abrupt termination of his tenure, which ends just over a year after his appointment.
Former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has been removed from his role as Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund (PSSF) Board of Trustees.
The revocation was formally announced by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning through a gazette notice published on Friday June 27, 2025, takes effect immediately.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10(1)(a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, as read together with section 51(1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati as the Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, with effect from the 27th June, 2025,” read the official notice.
Wangamati was appointed to the position on June 8, 2024, by then Treasury CS Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, with a three-year term set to run until 2027.
No reason was provided for the abrupt termination of his tenure, which ends just over a year after his appointment.
Wangamati, who served as Bungoma’s second governor, was expected to oversee the board responsible for managing the pension scheme for public servants.
His ouster adds to the growing list of reshuffles in key state agencies as the Treasury ministry reconstitutes leadership in various sectors.
