The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation for the shared benefit of their people, with a focus on delivering tangible development results and safeguarding the planet.

President William Ruto on Thursday held talks with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in London, as part of his official visit to the United Kingdom focused on advancing economic and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.

Ruto described the meeting as a productive engagement rooted in shared aspirations for prosperity, sustainable development, and stronger ties in addressing both regional and global challenges.

“The fruitful bilateral discussions were anchored in our shared commitment to mutual progress and prosperity for our two countries, while addressing pressing regional and global challenges,' he said.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation for the shared benefit of their people, with a focus on delivering tangible development results and safeguarding the planet.

“The leaders are committed to deepening the cooperation for the shared prosperity of the people, building a sustainable future, and delivering tangible benefits for both our nations and the planet,” Ruto added.

During the visit, President Ruto also witnessed a number of strategic agreements aimed at enhancing collaboration in health, trade, financial services, and innovation.

On Wednesday, he oversaw the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding between Kenyan institutions and British universities, including the University of Nottingham and King’s College London.

The agreements will see the two institutions join the Kenya–UK Health Alliance in establishing Centres of Health Education and Research Excellence in Kenya, making it one of only three such centres in Africa.

The centres are expected to strengthen the long-standing Kenya–UK health partnership by enhancing collaboration in research, innovation, and skills development.

Ruto also witnessed the signing of another agreement between the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and the BioVax Institute under the BRITE initiative. This collaboration will boost local manufacturing and help expand Kenya’s capacity to develop life-saving health technologies.

“These initiatives are building local expertise, advancing research, and ensuring equitable access to care, key pillars of Kenya’s journey towards Universal Health Coverage,” said Ruto.

Earlier the same day, the President witnessed a signing ceremony between the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority and Lloyd’s, the global insurance and reinsurance market.

He welcomed Lloyd’s plan to open a regional underwriting office in Nairobi, saying it reflects growing investor confidence in Kenya’s financial sector and its role as a hub for regional financial services.

The President’s UK tour also saw the renewal of the Kenya–UK Strategic Partnership on Monday. The renewed agreement is expected to boost trade, attract investments, and drive progress in climate action, ICT development, and regional peace efforts.

“With a promise to double our bilateral trade over the next five years, we are confident the cooperation will deliver a tangible economic impact to our people,” Ruto said.
