Interior CS Murkomen unveils revamped ‘Fichua Kwa DCI’ centre

CS Murkomen emphasised the importance of public trust and citizen involvement in the country’s internal security framework.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Tuesday, July 22, presided over the official reopening of the newly upgraded Fichua Kwa DCI Centre at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters along Kiambu Road, Nairobi.
The revamped centre is expected to play a central role in strengthening public participation in crime prevention by offering a safe, confidential, and accessible platform for members of the public to report criminal activity.
The Fichua Kwa DCI initiative loosely translated to “Expose to the DCI” was first introduced as a whistleblower system but has now been enhanced with improved infrastructure, digital support systems, and dedicated staff to handle sensitive leads.
Speaking during the launch, CS Murkomen emphasised the importance of public trust and citizen involvement in the country’s internal security framework. He said the facility would serve as a “direct link between law enforcement and the people,” encouraging Kenyans to take an active role in exposing criminal networks.
“The success of our fight against crime depends on the public’s willingness to speak up. This facility will ensure their voices are heard and protected,” Murkomen stated.
DCI Director Mohamed Amin, who was also present, said the Directorate remains committed to leveraging technology and human intelligence in dismantling organized crime, corruption, and other security threats.
“This upgraded centre signals a new chapter in how we work with the public. We are ready to act on every credible lead we receive,” Amin affirmed.
The launch is part of ongoing reforms within the National Police Service aimed at improving transparency, responsiveness, and accountability across all levels of law enforcement.
