NTSA orders mandatory vehicle records update for all motorists

The move, announced through a public notice, is part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to streamline motor vehicle registration data.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a fresh directive requiring all motor vehicle and motorcycle owners to update their duty status and vehicle records.
The move, announced through a public notice, is part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to streamline motor vehicle registration data and enhance service delivery across public and private institutions.
According to NTSA, the exercise targets individual owners as well as stakeholders such as financial institutions, government agencies, insurance firms, vehicle dealers, and corporate entities.
The agency has operationalized a new records update module to support the verification and correction of vehicle details within its system.
To facilitate the update, owners must submit a formal request letter that includes their phone number and email address. NTSA has emphasized that the letter must be stamped by the Authority as proof of receipt and review.
Other required documents include a copy of the owner’s national ID, the original logbook of the vehicle, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) entry documents, and a valid duty payment receipt.
“This process is necessary to maintain an accurate and secure vehicle registry and ensure all vehicle-related transactions are properly backed by verified documentation,” the Authority said.
NTSA has urged members of the public to visit its official website, www.ntsa.go.ke, to access detailed guidelines on documentation requirements, submission points, processing charges, and how to apply for a duplicate certificate of ownership where needed.
The agency has also assured vehicle owners of continued support through its official email at info@ntsa.go.ke and its social media platforms on X and Facebook under the handle @ntsa_kenya.
The Authority is calling on all affected vehicle and motorcycle owners to comply with the directive promptly to avoid delays in accessing NTSA services, including inspection, licensing, and ownership transfer.
