Man who entered Bunge Towers searching for wives to undergo mental assessment

Kidero faces charges of unlawfully entering the Parliamentary precincts, violating Section 31(1)(a) and Section 31(2) of the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Act 2017.
A Nairobi court has ordered a man accused of illegally entering Bunge Towers to undergo a mental health evaluation before facing charges of unlawful entry into a restricted area.
The Milimani court gave the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) 14 days to take Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, also known as Nelson Muriithi, to Mathari Mental Hospital for assessment ahead of his arraignment.
Kidero faces charges of unlawfully entering the Parliamentary precincts, violating Section 31(1)(a) and Section 31(2) of the Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Act 2017.
Court documents show he entered Bunge Towers twice, on July 30 and August 7, 2025.
On August 7, at about 9:30 pm in Nairobi, Kidero was found in the parking area of Bunge Towers without legal permission. Earlier, on July 30 around 6:45 am, he was at the reception area on the 24th floor of the building, again without authorization.
In court on Friday, Kidero apologized for his actions. “I want to ask for forgiveness. I am very sorry for kuingia kwa bunge. I did not want to enter Parliament in a bad way, so I am sorry,” he told the Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi.
When asked why he went to Bunge Towers, Kidero said he was looking for his wives inside the August House. He named three wives and joked that the other ten were in court, causing laughter in the courtroom.
He added that it was unnecessary to reveal the names of the remaining wives.
Although court papers mention two incidents, Kidero claimed to have entered the premises three times. As Magistrate Ekhubi gave instructions to the DPP, Kidero interrupted with a compliment, saying, “You are very handsome,” which sparked more laughter.
The magistrate ordered the State to ensure Kidero undergoes a mental assessment and receives treatment for any injuries he has. The case will be mentioned again on August 21, 2025.
