Six arrested after deadly raid on Korean Mission Camp in Kajiado

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the gang disguised themselves in police fatigues while carrying crude weapons during their attacks.
Six suspects believed to be behind a spate of violent robberies on missionary camps across three counties have been arrested, with police uniforms and vehicles allegedly used in the crimes recovered.
Detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau launched a manhunt after the group’s latest raid on August 8, 2025, at the Korean Mission Camp (MCK) in Elerai, Mashuuru Sub-County, Kajiado, where a watchman was fatally injured.
Two of the suspects, identified as Muoki Mulee and Ambrose Mutuku, were arrested in Kitengela and near Machakos Junction, respectively.
The other four – Dominic Moenga Mwambi, Joseph Mamai, Gideon Nyaga Njeri and Alex Mwaura Waweru – were apprehended in Kantafu, Matungulu Sub-County in Machakos.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the gang disguised themselves in police fatigues while carrying crude weapons during their attacks.
“The gang’s most recent attack occurred on August 8, 2025, when they stormed the Korean Mission Camp (MCK) in Elerai area of Mashuuru Sub-County. Dressed in police jungle fatigues and wielding crude weapons, the assailants fatally injured a watchman during the raid,” stated the DCI.
“Investigators have since linked the group to similar violent robberies in Kimana, Mashuru, Wote, and other areas.”
Following interrogation, Ambrose reportedly directed officers to his house in Kitulu village, Machakos County, where police recovered jungle uniforms suspected to have been used during the raids, as well as Sh49,000 in cash.
Preliminary findings further revealed that Muoki and Ambrose are repeat offenders who had only been released from Machakos Prison in December 2024.
In addition to the arrests, three vehicles suspected to have been used in the robberies were seized. The six suspects remain in custody as detectives finalize investigations before their arraignment.
