Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programs Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has urged ministries and government agencies to expand their services through Huduma Centres to make them easily accessible to Kenyans across the country.

Speaking in Lamu East during a government relief outreach, Ruku said it is unfair for citizens to travel long distances to access services that can be provided closer to them.

He announced that plans are underway to operationalise and digitise a Huduma Centre in Lamu East to fast-track service delivery and reduce unnecessary bureaucratic delays.

“I am urging all ministries and government agencies to urgently make all possible services available in Huduma Centres. Kenyans deserve easy, convenient, and efficient access to public services, regardless of their location,” he said on Saturday.

The Cabinet Secretary added that he would personally follow up to ensure more services are made available through the facilities.

Ruku also defended President William Ruto’s administration against opposition criticism, stressing that the Head of State continues to enjoy strong support across the country, particularly in the Mt. Kenya region.

He urged residents to rally behind the government’s development agenda.

“We are focused on service delivery and improving the lives of ordinary Kenyans. The noise from the opposition is nothing but a distraction,” Ruku said. “Unity and collective effort are essential if we are to fully realise the promises made to the people.”

The CS pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects in Lamu, especially road construction, which he said will strengthen connectivity and stimulate economic growth. On health, he encouraged residents to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA), explaining that the universal health coverage plan is designed to shield families from high medical bills.

During the visit, Ruku also supervised the distribution of relief food to households affected by drought, affirming the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
