Orwoba insisted that she remains the legally recognized nominated senator, saying that the process used to remove her was flawed.

Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has come out strongly to declare that she is still a senator, despite her party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), announcing her expulsion earlier this year.

Speaking during the People’s Breakfast Show on Radio Generation, Orwoba insisted that she remains the legally recognized nominated senator, saying that the process used to remove her was flawed.

She reminded listeners that her expulsion was announced on May 19, 2025 but maintained that she has never ceased to hold her parliamentary position.

“I am still the nominated senator, not a former senator,” she said. “What happened was a political game driven by people who don’t want me to speak the truth.”

The outspoken lawmaker accused senior officials in the Senate of being behind what she described as an “impeachment plot” against her.

In particular, she pointed fingers at the Clerk of the Senate, saying that a special sitting to expel her could not have taken place without the clerk and the Speaker.

“It is not my party that fought me; it is the office of the clerk working through legal channels. That’s where the problem is,” she claimed.

Orwoba also alleged that the move to push her out was fueled by discomfort with her style of politics.

“I speak my mind, and that makes many people uncomfortable, including party leaders,” she said, hinting that her frankness has cost her politically.

The senator further revealed that she has not received her salary since her suspension, despite the committee that handled her case never touching her pay.

“Up to now, I have not been paid. They are punishing me financially for refusing to be silent,” she added.

She also made a surprising claim linking the government to payouts following political activism.

According to her, after holding a press briefing alongside Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba over the killings in Kware, the state quietly released one million shillings.

She argued that such actions show how uncomfortable the authorities get when leaders speak boldly about sensitive issues.

Despite the challenges, Orwoba maintained that she will continue speaking up for what she believes in, regardless of threats or political isolation.
