The Orange Democratic Movement has kicked off delegate registration ahead of its 20th anniversary celebrations to be held in Mombasa from October 10 to 12, 2025.
The party said preparations for the three-day event are ongoing, with logistics being finalised to host members and leaders from across the country.
“While the party will cater for selected participants from all 290 constituencies, we warmly welcome other party members who wish to attend the celebrations at their own expense to register,” the statement read.
ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen said registration is already open and will run until September 29. The party emphasised that only accredited delegates will be allowed into official venues, with members expected to complete the process in advance. To ease access, ODM has provided an online portal and a USSD code for registration.
The anniversary is set to mark two decades since ODM’s formation, underlining its position as one of Kenya’s largest political movements. Party leaders said the event would reflect both logistical organisation and political momentum, while urging members to register early to avoid last-minute difficulties.
ODM leaders also used a build-up rally at Wajir Stadium on Saturday to reaffirm the party’s values ahead of the Mombasa celebrations.
Among those present were National Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Deputy Party Leader and Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, Minority Leader Junet Mohamed, Garissa Governor Nathif Jama, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, and other senior officials.
Governor Wanga said ODM remains anchored on transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. She pointed to the appointment of Ahmed Abdisalan, a former Wajir North MP elected on an ODM ticket, as Principal Secretary for National Government Coordination as an example of the party’s commitment to diversity.
Governor Nassir praised Raila Odinga’s leadership, crediting him with shaping Kenya’s political landscape and steering ODM through two decades of resilience.
“As we stand here to celebrate 20 years of our party, we want to sincerely thank the Right Honourable Prime Minister because he has led ODM and ensured it continues to be a beacon of hope to all Kenyans,” Nassir said.
Wajir Governor Abdullahi said ODM had consistently proven its strength in elections since 2007, stressing that Odinga’s role has remained central in stabilising governments formed after disputed polls. “Every government that comes to power has to call on Baba to steady things. Even in 2027, no government can run without Raila,” Abdullahi said.
The party leadership reaffirmed that ODM remains firmly rooted in its founding values and committed to defending democracy and devolution as it marks 20 years of existence.
