Fake masseurs arrested in Kasarani online scam

The suspect are said to have been running a fake massage business online, luring unsuspecting victims with the promise of high-end professional services.
Police in Kasarani, Nairobi, have arrested two men who were orchestrating a deceptive online scheme by pretending to be glamorous women offering massage services, only to end up stealing from their clients.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the suspects, identified as Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo, had been running a fake massage business online, luring unsuspecting victims with the promise of high-end professional services.
But instead of a therapeutic session, victims were met with criminal antics.
One such incident came to light after a victim, enticed by photos of what appeared to be two attractive women, responded to an online advertisement and headed to a residence along Lumumba Drive in Kasarani, expecting a luxurious massage experience.
"However, shortly after the session began, the situation took a dark twist. The pair brandished knives and revealed their true intentions. With no actual massage skills in sight, they coerced the victim into transferring Sh280,000 via mobile money and made off with other valuables before ejecting him from the premises," said the DCI.
Following a report made at the Kasarani Police Station, officers launched an investigation.
Forensic tracking led them to a hangout spot near Kamiti prison, where the duo was enjoying themselves, likely funded by the ill-gotten gains.
They are currently in custody as they undergo processing and await their day in court.
