Kindiki said there is no room for delays and directed contractors to speed up ongoing works to ensure citizens benefit fully from government projects.

The government is fast-tracking the completion of projects across the country to boost economic growth and improve the lives of Kenyans, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said.

Speaking on Monday during the Kuresoi North Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement in Kuresoi Town, Nakuru County, Kindiki said there is no room for delays and directed contractors to speed up ongoing works to ensure citizens benefit fully from government projects.

“We are working hard to deliver roads, water, electricity, better healthcare, modern markets, and other projects. This is the development agenda we are fully focused on,” he said.

The Deputy President noted that Nakuru County has benefited from projects worth over Sh80 billion, including affordable housing, institutional hostels, and modern markets. He urged contractors to expedite delivery, saying delays undermine the government’s development goals.

“Contractors who are slowing down completion of projects have a case to answer. It is unacceptable to frustrate government programmes,” he said.

Kindiki cited the stalled construction of the 40-kilometre Kiambiriria–Chepsir Road connecting Nakuru and Kericho counties, where only eight kilometres have been completed. “As the President’s assistant, I will follow up with the contractor from today because we must get a solution to this delay,” he said.

Other roads earmarked for tarmacking in the area include the Samburet–Kuresoi and Kuresoi–Chepseon roads.

He also highlighted ongoing government investments in the county, including the expansion of electricity connections worth Sh4 billion to benefit 23,000 new households. Kuresoi North alone has been allocated Sh362 million to connect 3,700 homes.

Additionally, 23 modern fresh produce markets are being constructed across Nakuru, including two nearing completion in Seguton and Kamara towns at a cost of Sh55 million.

Kindiki assured residents that the government is addressing delays in the issuance of title deeds to ensure landowners can access the vital documents.

He also called on the opposition to abandon divisive tribal politics, saying such rhetoric is outdated and counterproductive.

“They should declare their agenda. Tribal politics is retrogressive and useless. You must convince Kenyans to support your policies, not divide them,” he said.
