In Summary

By Sunday, only the lower half of the body had been recovered about 200 meters from the suspect’s home.

Police have arrested a man suspected of murdering his friend and dismembering the body into two parts in Chemamul village, Ololunga, Narok South, on Saturday.

By Sunday, only the lower half of the body had been recovered about 200 meters from the suspect’s home.

Relatives positively identified this portion of the remains.

The victim, 27-year-old Philemon Kirui Mutai, went missing last Thursday, according to his mother.

Concerned family members visited his friend’s residence, where they noticed bloodstains on the doorframe, window, and walls, raising suspicion.

Authorities detained the suspect, identified as Shadrack Chelule.

A search of his home led to the discovery of a blood-stained panga and a wooden stick.

Chelule was taken to Nkoben police post, where detectives from the Narok South Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrived to further investigate the scene.

The DCI confirmed that the lower half of the body was found inside a nylon sack roughly 200 meters from the suspect’s house, while the upper half remains missing.

Lily Mutai, the victim’s mother, revealed that the two men were living together in the village. The reason behind the gruesome killing has not yet been determined.

The recovered body parts were transported to Narok Referral Hospital for preservation as authorities await an autopsy report.
