Slovenian President Nataša Pirc to embark on three-day official visit to Kenya

Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’Oei has confirmed that the state visit will proceed as planned.
Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar is scheduled to undertake a three-day state visit to Kenya starting on May 30.
This visit comes shortly after Maurice Makoloo was officially accredited as Kenya’s inaugural ambassador to Slovenia, based in Vienna, Austria.
In discussions, President Musar described this development as a significant achievement, marking a historic moment in the two decades of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
According to a statement from her office, the two leaders engaged on various topics of shared interest, including boosting trade ties, collaboration in technology and skills development, and strengthening people-to-people connections.
Musar also praised Kenya’s role in promoting sustainable peace and security regionally and internationally, as well as its ongoing leadership in addressing climate change challenges.
She noted that Slovenia, currently serving as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, has made sustainable peace and respect for international law key priorities.
Recognizing Kenya’s status as host to one of the UN’s four offices, both countries agreed on the importance of revitalizing multilateral cooperation.

President Musar’s visit follows closely behind a similar trip by Finland’s President Alexander Stubb and his wife, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, just two weeks earlier.
During the visit, Musar will be among the distinguished guests attending this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations in Homa Bay County.
Besides the official welcome at State House and bilateral discussions with President William Ruto, President Musar is set to tour Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) to inaugurate The Conduit, a state-of-the-art Climate Intelligence Hub developed through a partnership between JHUB Africa and Slovenia’s SPACE-SI Centre of Excellence for Space Sciences and Technologies.
