Former Kisumu West MP, Rev. Kenn Nyagudi has died, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has confirmed.

Speaker Wetang’ula stated that the ex-lawmaker passed away on the evening of Sunday, March 23, while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Expressing his condolences, Wetang’ula said, “I extend my deepest sympathies to the family of former Kisumu Town West MP, Rev. Kenn Nyagudi. I had the privilege of interacting with him during my tenure as Foreign Affairs Minister.”

Nyagudi was elected in a 2004 by-election after the death of Joab Omino in January of the same year under the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC).

He served the remainder of the term but lost the 2007 election to Olago Aluoch.

In the 2013 elections, following the adoption of the 2010 Constitution, Nyagudi vied for the Kisumu Central MP seat but was defeated by political newcomer Ken Obura.

The late Nyagudi also served as the Director of E-Fundraising and Resource Mobilization for the ODM Party.

In 2016, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga appointed him to this position as the party geared up for the 2017 elections.

He ventured into real estate and the hospitality industry after stepping away from politics, maintaining a low media profile.

Additionally, he is remembered for his 2012 lawsuit against local banks, where he challenged an alleged inaccurate listing of his financial transaction details.
