Fresh off his exploits in the Rugby Sevens World Series, Kenya Sevens rugby star Patrick Odongo has struck gold once again.

Odongo, who features locally for Daystar Falcons rugby, was Kenya's overall points scorer in the just ended Singapore Sevens Competition, where his tries and power propelled Shujaa to the latter stages of the competition.

With that, he has earned a slot in the inaugural Rugby Sevens Premier League in India, where he will team up with other world rugby talents in the tournament-style rugby league.

The Inaugural Rugby Premier League is scheduled to take place from the 1st to the 15th of June 2025 in Mumbai at the Brihanmumbai Kreeda Ani Lalitkala Prarthisthan Andheri Sports Complex (Mumbai Football Arena, MFA).

It will be a first of its kind and will borrow heavily from the successful India Premier Cricket League, IPL.

RPL will host 30 marquee international players from powerhouse Rugby 7s nations, including Argentina, South Africa, Kenya, Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Fiji, USA, and Ireland.

The league will comprise of 6 teams, namely Mumbai Dreamers, Kalinga Black Tigers, Delhi Redz, Bengaluru Brave Hearts, Chennai Bull,s and the Hyderabad Heroes.

Odongo will be in the Delhi Redz squad that will be coached by the New Zealand legend Tomasi Cama and will be joined by the likes of Jordan Conroy (Ireland), Matteo Grazziano (Argentina), and Alejandro Laforga (Spain).
