In Summary

Gor need three points or their title defence will be officially over and Kenya Police will be crowned KPL champions.

A fixture that has defined Kenyan football for years takes centre stage Sunday as Gor Mahia battle AFC Leopards in Kenya Premier League action Monday afternoon in Homa Bay.

The math is simple in this afternoon's 97th staging of this fixture.

Gor need three points or their title defence will be officially over and Kenya Police will be crowned KPL champions.

Kogalo have 54 points from 31 matches played. Police have 61 from 32.

Tusker have 55 from 32. Gor have to win their remaining matches and hope that Police drop theirs.

Interesting plot twist is that Gor have to take on Police in one of their two remaining fixtures.

Regardless of whatever narrative is peddled, Gor need maximum points and Leopards would love to spoil it for them at what will be a packed Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.

Kick off will be at 3 pm.

Gor interim coach Zico Otieno: "This is an important game for us. We need three points. Historically, this is usually a tight match so we have to defend well and be clinical," he said.

Leopards coach Fred Ambani: "The derby is always an important fixture for this club. We are ready to fight for three points. We are looking to win our remaining games this season."

More than anyone, Kenya Police, will be the most interested spectators this afternoon.
