Arsenal target Leipzig striker Šeško to boost striker options

22-year-old Šeško has been frequently linked with a move over the past three transfer windows with Mikel Arteta a firm admirer of the Slovenian forward.
It has emerged that Slovenia Striker Benjamin Šeško is the striker that English Premier League club Arsenal will rely on to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
22-year-old Šeško has been frequently linked with a move over the past three transfer windows with Mikel Arteta a firm admirer of the Slovenian forward.
Šeško provided 18 goal involvements last season in 33 Bundesliga appearances (13 goals, five assists) for a Leipzig side that struggled mightily in the Champions League and failed to qualify for Europe next season.
Arsenal's need for a striker is well documented.
After Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus were injured, Arteta was forced to deploy central midfielder Mikel Merino as a striker for a large part of the second half of last season.
While the Spaniard held his own and scored some important goals, the Gunners were never really a threat to Liverpool's eventual Premier League title win.
Fabrizio Romano reports that talks are advancing between all parties involved, with an agreement yet to be reached, while Sky Sports quote sources in Germany saying that Arsenal have made a formal approach over Šeško.
"Understand Arsenal are now advancing in negotiations for Benjamin Šeško after initial concrete talks reported last week. Discussions underway and proceeding well between all parties involved, player & clubs," he said on his X account.
"No agreement yet now or expected this weekend, but advancing," Romano reported.
Other strikers linked with Arsenal include Sporting Lisbon forward Victor Gyokeres and Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins.
Arsenal were UEFA Champions League semifinalists last season and will be hoping to translate a third consecutive second-place finish into a first title since the 2004/2005 season.
